Back in January 2019, the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) delivered to the government a relevant bill of this request.

The cabinet will decide on a bill to eliminate four zeros from the currency and that ‘Toman’ will be the national currency. The value of each Toman would be as 10000 Rials.

The Iranian government has now acknowledged this with its latest move, which needs to be forwarded to parliament for final approval.
