IBENA- Governor of Central Bank presented a report on the latest measures taken to provide currency for purchase of vaccines.

Dr. Hemmati wrote in his note: The need to provide corona vaccine and vaccination against corona virus should definitely be the most important concern of the country. In the beginning, Central Bank, in spite of all financial transfer restrictions imposed by the sanctions, has made all the efforts to provide the currency needed to import vaccine immediately, as ordered by Ministry of Health. Under COVAX, $ 178 million has been paid for 16.8 million doses of vaccine and the first installment has been paid and imports have begun.

Any request and announcement of Ministry of Health for payment of foreign exchange in order to import of vaccine will be provided. So far, necessary currency has been provided and imported based on demand for vaccines from Russia and China. At present, allocation of foreign exchange for imports in currency from integrated foreign exchange trading system (NIMA), according to President's order, is a priority. Large powerful enterprises can play a role in fulfilling their social responsibilities in coordination to Ministry of Health. Today, central bank allocated at least another $ 100 million in preferred currency to pay with announcement of Ministry of Health. This process of providing foreign exchange based on the requests will be continued.
