Gholamreza Marhaba, spokesman of Economic Commission and representative of Astara in Islamic parliament, in an interview to IBENA, assessed performance of 13th government in first few months: Thirteenth government inherited an extremely damaged economy and various reasons such as sanctions, access to foreign currency resources and neglect towards domestic talents had caused it. 12th government was too conservative and could not make fundamental and effective decisions, and to maintain status quo and manage the same conditions. Of course, this may not have been the intention, but output was to maintain the status, he added.
Such thinking has led to no significant changes and inflation reaches over 30 or 40 percent and economic growth rate to be negative. The stock market was severely damaged and balance sheets of most banks were lost, and inflation and exchange rates increased. In fact, all these cases showed a kind of disruption in economy and economic policies of the country, which resulted in difficulty livelihood and reducing their welfare and satisfaction, spokesman of Economic Commission of parliament stated. As mentioned initially, such a situation was inherited to 13th government, and we need fundamental and basic decisions in order to change many economic fields of stock exchange, banking system, production and distribution of basic goods. Iranian economy has experienced enough conservatism and is no longer the time, Marhaba continued.
Although in 13th government there are reform signs in decisions and policies in economy, but it is too late and waiting to see changes in the economy. No special work has been done in stock market and banking system yet. In banking system, more than anything, need to change our views to really understand this field, as same as in stock market, because what has done and its violations to this day and requires a basic thought, Representative of Astara continued.
There is hope for economic future of the country and first reason is richness of this land. In addition, there are unique hidden talents that have not been realized. No one is opposed to outcome of negotiations, but country's resources must be fully funded, so everything should not be tied to negotiations. The fact is that other side of the table have a history centuries of colonialism with Iran, and if they feel that the future is tied to this issue, naturally put more pressure. The transmission of any message on our part must be non-sanctioning, regarding impact of economic reforms, he said.
